Ugh. Republicans. I'm sure some of them are decent, but
this is indefensible. The people responsible are dirty, low, despicable wretches. What little respect they must have for the intelligence of the American public. Could you drag the level of public discourse down any lower?
But you know what is even worse? Okay, maybe not worse but just as bad? That the title of the article is "Aide
May Have Misdialed Phone Sex Line" (emphasis mine). I mean, MAY have misdialed? Isn't it fucking obvious it's a misdial when the length of the phone call to the porno place is less than a minute long and is immediately followed thereafter by a phone call to the state's Department of Criminal Justice, and the two telephone numbers have only a ONE digit difference? I guess the newspaper is trying to be "fair and balanced." And Republicans are always bemoaning the "liberal" media. What a joke.
Then there is all the brouhaha the Republicans are kicking up over John Kerry's botched joke or whatever it was. He said that if you are uneducated and intellectually incurious you get stuck in Iraq. Supposedly he meant to say if you are uneducated and intellectually incurious you get America stuck in Iraq, or something like that, to jab at President Bush. Okay, I will admit - not a smooth move, John. You're constantly sticking your foot in it. But you know what?
Bush and his Republican Administration have just pretty much abandoned a kidnapped American soldier in Sadr City. I mean, seriously. Whatever happened to the whole We-leave-no-fallen-soldier-behind thing? Was that only in Oliver Stone movies? I mean, Bush is the one responsible for embroiling American troops in Iraq and fucking up the whole thing royally and costing thousands of Americans their lives. Yet you turn on the radio or read the paper and everywhere it's "Oh, John Kerry insulted the troops and he's not even apologizing; it just shows how much the Democrats hate our military." I mean, it's a complete farce. And also extremely frightening.
YRCH. See, I refuse to actually discuss politics with people in person because somehow even if you agree you end up fighting. And if you disagree, well, I mean, I've nearly come to blows with some people I ordinarily think are really nice, and I'm not even a violent person. So I have to do my ranting here.
